BOOK REVIEW – A Love Not Deceased by Eric Kapitan – An amalgamation of tenderness and very disturbing material

Eric Kapitan has a very personal writing style, in my opinion. He creates an amalgamation of tenderness and very disturbing material with brushstrokes of humour. Very dark humour.

I think it’s the technique he uses to infiltrate the fear into the reader. You don’t even notice you’re getting disturbed until you are already having nightmares.

“She loves him so much, she can’t let go.”

I can’t but feel a strange sadness for this character. Kind of as when I cried when Godzilla was killed.

The character is multilayered and it evolves quickly.

The scenes’ fast turning keeps you aware and doesn’t let you fall. You find little twists that keep on transforming the story.

It has a quick pace. You smile, cringe, and shut your eyes several times. The feeling of covering your face with the blanket when you are watching a horror movie.

How crazy can a romance turn? Twisted obsession, paranoia, broken minds. Having a lacrimosa phantom stuck to you soul turns out into a terrifying race against time itself.

Love taken to the limit of eternal life, broken down into every little panic stab you could ever feel for your… loved one?

How strong is your love? Maggie can show you hers.
